Dr. Charles Mahl GenLife Regenerative Medicine MiamiCharles F. Mahl, M.D. is a physician/surgeon who specializes in the practice of Regenerative Medicine which includes prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma injections and stem cells for pain management of musculoskeletal conditions in Coral Gables, Florida. This field is sometimes called non-surgical orthopedics or regenerative orthopedics.

Prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma injections (PRP) and stem cell injections are used for the treatment of all types of muscle, joint, tendon and ligament disorders that cause acute and chronic pain. Many patients come to Dr. Mahl who have already had conventional steroid injections and/or orthopedic surgery which has failed to relieve the cause of pain and thus, they still have constant pain and discomfort. Using the most current 21st Century treatments, Dr. Mahl can treat any part of the body from head to toe; eyes, necks, TMJs, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, upper and lower backs, sacroiliac joints, hips, knees and ankles and feet. Pain in the most difficult cases can be relieved and tissue regenerated so as to improve your quality of life. You can even prevent having additional surgery by having these nonsurgical treatments.

Dr. Mahl was mentored in the art and science of Prolotherapy, Regenerative Medicine and Non-surgical Orthopedics for 3 years by Dr. Alvin Stein, one of the foremost prolotherapists and well-respected orthopedists in the United States. Dr. Mahl furthered his training in Regenerative Medicine through Regenestem and the Global Stem Cells Group, two international companies for which he now serves on their Advisory Boards. Dr. Mahl now lectures, teaches and trains other physicians throughout the world in Regenerative Medicine and stem cell procedures from peripheral blood, bone marrow, and adipose tissues. He is an active member of the Interventional Orthopedic Foundation, participating in the Wounded Warriors Program for soldiers and veterans. He is also a member of the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine (AAOM) , participating in their medical missions and The American Osteopathic Association of Prolotherapy and Regenerative Medicine (AOAPRM), lecturing and proctoring other physicians in Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Mahl is a member of numerous other professional organizations within the fields of pain management, regenerative medicine, and anti-aging medicine.

Dr. Mahl attends and speaks at numerous conferences, meetings and workshops throughout the United States and world to maintain his expertise in his chosen field and participates in medical missionary work performing both prolotherapy and regenerative medicine using PRP and stem cells taken from the bone marrow and/or adipose tissue (fat) to treat diseases and conditions that previously required surgeries or were deemed untreatable. He has lectured many times throughout Latin America and has trained physicians in the art and science of Regenerative Medicine, both in his Coral Gables practice location and in the physician’s own home country.

Dr. Mahl has expertise in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy for men and women (BHRT), including testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, thyroid, adrenal, and growth hormones. His specific protocol for hormonal anti-aging medicine is called “Alive-Again” for regulation and relief of andropause/hypogonadism in men and menopausal problems in women. Using the most appropriate forms of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone in women, and testosterone in men, and HGH (human growth hormone) when indicated; he has helped improve the lives of many of his patients, young and old. He utilizes and encourages proper fitness and exercise and nutrition and diet to promote a healthy lifestyle and healthy lifespan and combines his knowledge of hormones with vitamins, nutraceuticals, and supplements to keep one in good health, whole minimizing or eliminating drugs that are harmful to one’s health.

Dr. Mahl is Certified in Sports Nutrition (CSN) and Certified in Personal Training (CPT); the knowledge gained from this training is carried through in his “patient personalized specific protocols” for weight loss and good health through fitness with proper diet and nutrition, including the use of nutraceuticals, vitamins and supplements through his high potency/high-grade/pure quality private label products known as “BodyFood”.

He is a member of the Florida Medical Reserve Core and Miami-Dade Medical Reserve Core/Department of Homeland Security (FEMA) to assist in any type of local or national disaster for emergency as a Physician Volunteer.

Fellow of the American College of SurgeonsHe is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and also a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS), and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.

He is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (FASLMS). He is also Board Certified in Ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (Diplomate Status) and Fellowship trained in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery.

He is a graduate of the Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine (Chicago Med) in Chicago, Illinois (M.D.) and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (B.A.).

Subsequent to his Fellowship training in Anti-Aging Medicine and Regenerative Medicine, which led to his 2nd career in medicine, he completed both Residency and Chief Residency with Honors in Ophthalmology at Interfaith Hospital in Brooklyn, New York and a Fellowship in Retina/Vitreous Diseases and Surgery at the Good Samaritan Hospital/University of Oregon in Portland, Oregon, and his practice was one of the top 50 Retinal practices in the United States in its time, out of some 1400.

The knowledge gained from years of practicing complex microscopic eye surgery, with no room for error, has given him a keen attention to detail, which is now applied regularly in his practice of relieving pain and regenerating tissue and treating patients to promote a healthy lifespan and correct hormonal imbalances and recognizing problems before they manifest when they are difficult to diagnose, but easy to treat, rather than when the problem or condition becomes full-blown and is thus easy to diagnose but the treatment is difficult.

His personal suffering with back and hip pain, over many years, with poor success from conventional care (steroid injections and multiple surgeries), and, then, discovering that the field of regenerative medicine can offer hope and relief, convinced him to become an expert in Regenerative Medicine utilizing all aspects of prolotherapy/PRP and stem cell therapies to spread the word and to offer these therapies and treatments to other patients who, like himself, had suffered needlessly for years, but who now can be helped. Combining his knowledge of regenerative medicine with that of age management medicine, he can now help and guide many people to lead a long healthy life with vitality and energy and productivity.

Dr. Mahl is married to Genny has two stepsons, Martin and Jordan, two married daughters Lisa and Sarah, and two grandsons.

WITH GRATITUDE
In the course of education and training to become an expert in my chosen field, I have had the opportunity to be mentored by some very outstanding physicians and I would like to thank them personally here: Dr. Alvin Stein, whom I studied with for almost 3 years, being mentored in all aspects of prolotherapy and regenerative medicine. One of the finest healers I have ever known, thank you for the wisdom and knowledge passed down to me. Dr. Gregory Petersburg, thank you and Nancy for showing me that kind and caring physicians are what makes the difference in outcomes for our patients and to Dr. Ross Hauser for his kindness in directing my path into prolotherapy and regenerative medicine and for sharing his thoughts.

Many other physicians have also crossed my path too, and I have always found something beneficial and worthwhile in our discussions; Dr. Brian Shiple, Dr. Tommy Bond, Dr. Tom Ravin, Dr. Bjorn Eck, Dr. Mark Sinnreich, and to Drs Hackett and Hemwall, who started all of us on the path of Regenerative Injection Therapies and Prolotherapy, I thank you all.
