Plasma-Rich Plasma (PRP) is concentrated from a person’s blood which contains healing factors. It is mostly used to stimulate healing and prevent tissue degeneration. PRP injections can help treat skin pigmentation, hair loss, acne scars, stretch marks, tendinitis and other degenerative conditions that involve the skin, hair and musculoskeletal areas.

According to our doctor, the PRP Miami learning expert, a dose of therapeutic PRP delivers about 1 billion platelets per mL, which results in a 4-6 fold increase in platelet concentration compared to the amount in normal blood. The high amount of platelet concentration has a healing property when injected into the affected area.

How is PRP processed?

Once blood sample is drawn from the patient, the blood is then placed in a centrifuge where blood is separated into many components. Collected platelet rich plasma can then be injected into an injured soft tissue, scalp to treat hair loss, and some areas of the skin for rejuvenation. After the procedure, you may experience some soreness in the injected area, but it usually lasts for a few days only. In most cases, patients can immediately return to their normal activities after the PRP injection.

Is there a risk factor that comes with the procedure?

A topical or injected anesthesia is used on the body part to which PRP will be injected. Therefore, there will only be minimal discomfort after the procedure. You can expect to experience redness, swelling, tingling, bruising, tenderness, or a feeling of pressure on the injected part. Given that PRP comes from the patient’s blood, there will be no risk of rejection, disease from transmission, or infection. It is proven safe.

How effective are the PRP injections?

Studies have shown that PRP injections have been effective in healing and reducing pain for various types of injuries. The common injuries include the following:

The significant results of the PRP treatment  have proved that it is an effective and natural alternative to steroid injections, which only provide a temporary relief for pain without curing the cause of pain. Our leading expert in Miami PRP said that PRP injections are very effective for purposes, such as, scalp regeneration, stimulating collagen production and providing an aesthetic. PRP is less invasive than traditional methods and an effective treatment, which may eliminate the need for aggressive treatment methods in the near future.

Is there a need to repeat the procedure?

Most of the time, patients obtain complete relief after the first treatment. But in some chronic cases, repeating the treatment may be necessary. The injections may be given three times within six months with 4 to 6 week intervals.

Our Miami PRP Clinic has doctors with exceptional skills. They mostly deliver complete musculoskeletal care to help patients relieve the symptoms of pain.
